After the roaring success of the NI Science Festival in 2016, Titanic Belfast is delighted to once again be one of the major venues for the 2017 Science Festival!
Over 11 days (16th – 26th February 2017), Titanic Belfast will host a variety of events as part of this family-friendly festival including shows, exhibitions and competitions for schools, families and everyone in between!
So, let your “inner geek” out to play and come visit us in Titanic Quarter!

Future17: Teen Hackathon
Sat 18th Feb, 9.30am - 4.30pm
Future17 is a hackathon and tech conference designed for teens, by teens. The event aims to inspire teens to get more involved in the tech industry through coding. Run exclusively by a group of three teenagers, attendees will have the chance to get to grips with coding and will be tasked with designing an app around a key theme, such as education. At the end, the most innovative projects will receive spot prizes and a share of £1,000. Even if you've never coded before but are keen to learn, don't worry, as expert coding mentors will be on hand to assist you!

Exploring the Depths
Exploring the Depths
allows you to dive deep into the ocean to uncover hidden shipwrecks and discover the world of modern ocean exploration. Taking place in the Ocean Exploration Centre
, part of the 9 galleries at Titanic Belfast, this unique setting provides an engaging and interactive learning environment.
Discover the zones of the ocean along with some of the specialised creatures that live there; get up close and personal with actual ocean exploration technology; fly through the underwater landscape off the North coast of Ireland using Titanic Belfast’s unique simulated environment to uncover shipwrecks and our extraordinary hidden landscapes and investigate some marine samples using a high definition video microscope.

Cracking the Code: The Genetics of Superheroes
TV presenter and scientist, Simon Watt, is returning to Titanic Belfast bringing his ‘Cracking The Code: The Genetics of Superheroes’ Roadshow!
Comic books are filled with mutants; heroes and villains alike, from Wolverine to Magneto, whose special abilities are genetic in their origin. Simon looks into what are real mutants like, looking at topics including genetics, mutation, DNA, and mRNA and poses the question, could we one day use genetics to make us superhuman?

Titanic Belfast STEMQuest Final
Following the success of our inaugural STEMQuest event in 2016, the race is on to find Northern Ireland’s top Key Stage 3 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) quiz team for 2017!
Having battled their way through the qualifying heats during January, the STEMQuest final will see the competitors go head to head and really put their grey matter to the test in a bid to claim the prestigious trophy.
Which school will be crowned the Titanic Belfast STEM Quest Champions by well known celebrity Barra Best?!
Limited audience tickets are available for the final for team supporters. Admission is free and on a first come first served basis.
