The European Federation of Chinese Tour Operators, the largest single tour operator group to visit Northern Ireland, were greeted in Belfast by Tourism Northern Ireland chairman Terence Brannigan.

During their five day stay the group will discover Northern Ireland’s history, culture, architecture, famous attractions and dramatic scenery, as well as learn about Northern Ireland's reputation as one of the world's 'must play' golf destinations and the return of the Open in 2019.

Titanic Belfast , which has now welcomed over 2.7 million visitors from over 145 countries, including approximately 25,000 Chinese visitors, recently became the first attraction in Ireland to complete the Centre for Competitiveness Ireland's Chinese Tourist Welcome Training Programme and was delighted to host the Chinese Operators for a tour of the Titanic Experience.

Addressing the group at Titanic Belfast, Mr Brannigan said; “Chinese citizens make up the world’s largest outbound travel market and it is still growing at a rapid pace. We are grateful that thousands of Chinese people already come to Northern Ireland every year, but as the travelling horizons of Chinese people continue to expand we want to attract many more. Over the next few days I am absolutely sure you will have a wonderful experience of what Northern Ireland has to offer as a global tourism destination.”

“I hope you are able to immerse yourselves in all the good things of Northern Ireland while you are here, especially our dining out experiences in this our special Year of Food and Drink. Looking ahead, Tourism NI will be doing everything we can to encourage efforts to drive more Chinese people to destination Northern Ireland”.
