We were delighted to welcome TITANIC Oscar winning production designer, Peter Lamont, to Titanic Belfast this weekend!
The legendary set decorator, art director and production designer, who is also famous for working on eighteen James Bond films, from Goldfinger to Casino Royale, as well as James Cameron’s Aliens and True Lies, visited Titanic Belfast 20 years after winning his Oscar Award for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration for TITANIC at the 1998 Academy Awards.
He is the now the third TITANIC Oscar winner, alongside producer Jon Landau and director James Cameron to visit Titanic Belfast, which the legendary director described as ‘magnificent and dramatic’.
He was accompanied by local author and historian, Dr. Tom McCluskie MBE, who consulted on the movie due to his role leading Harland and Wolff’s archiving and administration for over 30 years.
Their visit coincided with the 21
st anniversary of when TITANIC, which tells the story of the luxury liner's fateful maiden voyage through the love story of passengers Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet), premiered on screens and became one of the top grossing films of all time. The story lives on in hearts and minds across the world but nowhere more so than in Belfast - the birthplace of the world's most famous ship.
To mark the anniversary of the movie we are hosting a blockbuster
Titanic Tea and Movie Experience on 18
th November, where guests can enjoy the movie in Oscar winning style whilst being treated to a red-carpet Afternoon Tea with a themed cocktail or a glass of fizz by the replica Grand Staircase.
